I am selling this beautiful retro-style automatic car “Figgy” as I am moving and will have nowhere to keep him. The car is great for whizzing around the city, but also holds it’s own on the motorway, cruising comfortably at 70mph. There are two large, comfortable seats in the front and a bench seat in the back, which can be used for short journeys or could fit two smaller people. The roof folds down into the boot quickly and easily, and it is lovely to drive around with the roof down when the weather is warmer.
Nissan made 20,000 of these cars in Japan during1991, and was so swamped with orders that they had to run a lottery to allocate the vehicles produced. The car was made in four different colours to represent the four different seasons – the “Pale Blue” is Nissan’s summer car.
This particular car was imported from Japan in 2006, and has since had three female owners. It was owned by one lady up until 2010, when it was sold to my mum, who passed the car on to me in 2016. I have got lots of paperwork relating to the car which will be passed on to the new owner, from the car being bought over from the UK to details of the odometer change, as well as MOT paperwork from over the years. I also have original Figaro Manuals (two are in Japanese, which is probably not very helpful, and one is in English).
Next MOT is due March 2018, and the car has never failed an MOT in the UK (I have no details from when it lived in Japan). The mileage is quite low for this type of car – at 62,484 miles. Please note that the odometer has a different reading – this is because the odometer was converted into miles from km when it was imported from Japan. I have paperwork from the company which shipped the car to the UK to prove this.
The battery has been replaced within the last few years and the car runs well, although I would recommend always having your foot lightly on the gas pedal to ensure it turns on smoothly, especially in the winter. Not sure if this is because the battery hasn’t been able to fully charge as I don’t use the car very much; a mechanic once recommended that fully charging the battery would help to prevent the problem.
The car comes with the original, rare Figaro silver chrome key, and a spare key (which opens the doors but does not start the car). The car has also been fitted with an immobiliser to help prevent theft, which uses a small plastic gadget. The car is fitted with the original cream leather seats. These are mostly in good condition, although there is a rip in the material on the bench in the rear of the car which would need fixed.
The car is fitted with electric windows, although these need some attention. Namely, replacing the chrome window controls, as these have fallen off. The window next to the driver’s seat works fine without the button, but the window by the passenger side needs the control to be rewired as it doesn’t open at the moment.
There is a small amount of rust on the chrome bumper at the front. The colour is fading from the bottom of the roof in small patches, and there is some dirt around the roof lining. There is a small crack in the front registration plate. The rear electric defoggers needs to be replaced. There is no damage to the body of the car.
Lots of Figaro parts are interchangeable with Nissan Micra items, which means that replacement parts are fairly easy to find, and can be bought at a reasonable price. There are also lots of specialist sellers if you need to replace a Figaro specific part of the car.
